IPM is an environmentally responsible approach to pest management that focuses on preventing pest problems through non-chemical control measures like sanitation and exclusion. In recognition of their extraordinary commitment to a successful IPM partnership with Orkin, Ample received a 2008 Gold Medal IPM Partner Award from Orkin, The IPM Institute of North America, and NSF Cook & Thurber. This was the second time Ample was honored by the Awards program for their continued dedication to maintaining a clean facility with little to no pest presence.To learn more about the award-winning partnership, we spoke with Bob Fairchild, Ample’s Vice President and General Manager, and Dave Hurr, Quality Control/AIB Manager. Why is IPM so critical to Ample Industries’ business? Fairchild: “Our commitment to IPM excellence and our partnership with Orkin help us maintain our leadership position in the industry for uncompromised product integrity. We have some of the industries’ highest audit standards set forth by NSF Cook & Thurber and AIB International. Ample’s employees are diligent in their efforts to achieve the highest possible standards for product safety, pest management and sanitation. Partnering with Orkin Commercial Services and adhering to the high IPM standards they represent helps us to achieve our goals.” Hurr: “IPM is essential to our business because pest management directly influences our audit scores. Orkin’s Gold Medal Protection program helps us reduce pest presence and excel at outside audits. Our Orkin Commercial Pest Specialist walks with the auditor during the inspection and reviews all of the IPM documentation with him. ”What makes Ample Industries’ IPM program so effective? Fairchild: “Regularly scheduled Orkin visits support the pest control consistency that we and our customers have come to expect. Our Orkin Commercial Pest Specialist regularly meets with Dave Hurr to present the inspection findings and recommendations to correct potential problems or issues. We know that Orkin is committed to our common goals and objectives. ”Hurr: “Much of Ample’s IPM success stems from our Orkin Commercial Pest Specialist’s weekly service visits. He keeps us informed of any sanitation or facility maintenance issues that might impact our IPM program. Anytime there is a hint of pest activity, Orkin takes care of it. I don’t have to worry about a thing and that’s a relief to me. It makes my job a lot easier – you can’t ask for better service.” What aspect of Orkin’s service is most important to you?
